The way to get visa extension

Everyone has a chance to get the visa extension after your undergraduate or graduated degree in Spain. So now if you wanna stay here in Europe for your future career, this information might be helpful for you. Normally, your student visa expires one month after your graduation, but you can go for the “looking for job” process in order to have your visa extension, which is valid for another one year. You can either look for a job in Europe ( technologically in Spain ) or have your own company. But for the later selection you are required more regulation with which the government request the applicant studying here at least 3 years. So for me studying here only one year, I just skip this selection and go for the looking for jobs policy.

This process is similar to the first application of your student visa. But this time the extension process is different, which request online application rather then

1. EX-01

2. Expired NIE, scanned copy

3. Passport, scanned copy

4. Health Insurance (it would be Spanish version), if your insurance is written by English, you can send it first to see whether the office accept it. For my case, I send the insurance with English but the officer requested a Spanish translation, which charge a huge money, 60 EUR. So if you can get an insurance in Spain, it would be better for your application process.

5. 6 month bank statement: this document is not clear about the minimum deposit, but don’t worry. Send the office a Spanish account and they will request a “DECLARACIÓN RESPONSABLE “ , which is a declaration of your life expense in Spanish available for you to support your period until you find a job.

6. Diploma and transcript

If we collected all the document above, then we start to apply for the visa extension now by following website ;

https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/pagina/index/directorio/mercurio2

And now, have we done yet by following the prosedure on the website? Obviously, no. We will have another problem that do you apply for a digital certificate.

So in order to get the digital certificate, there are three step:

First,

apply for personal digital certificate. https://www.sede.fnmt.gob.es/es/certificados/persona-fisica?

Second,

go to the city office to prove that you held the digital certificate. This is the appointment website: https://ssweb.seap.minhap.es/icpplus/citar?org=OIACR

Third,

download a software, autofirma The guideline video :  (Made by eAdministracionEs)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF4Rnm6-kug&t=4s

OK, if there is no technique issue, we will have a digital certificate. And we go back to the applicartion website to chose continue individual.

Actually, it is now only available for online application (due to COVID-19), so the document the office requests will be shown on the list that the applicant need to upload. The 6 documents which I mentioned above. After collected all the document and you need a appointment. ( to police office ) Here we have the link

After the process and wait for about one to two weeks, the system will send you a letter via E-mail to make you to check your result of the application. Be aware of the result, because what if the office request other document, you need to upload in 10 days, otherwise, the process will be canceled. And if your result tell you that the government approve your application, then you can go to the police office to do the fingerprint. So assume that the government approves our application. There is another process to do.

To get the fingerprint in police office, the document requested will be mentioned on the result of former process. (these following requests will also be shown on the result of your application)

1. EX-17

2. Expired NIE, and its copy

3. Passport, and its copy

4. Residence proof, if you change the place you live.

5. One inch picture for your new NIE

6. 790—012 payment receipt. https://sede.policia.gob.es/Tasa790_012/ImpresoRellenar

It will cost about 19.11EUR. And click this option “Tramitación de la solicitud de autorización o visado de tránsito en frontera y de visado de estancia en frontera.”

After collecting the documents again, we need a another appointment again, here is the website, and please find the police office : https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/icpplus/index

Finally, after you pass the process of fingerprint, you will receive a document which inform you that you have done the process and wait for 30 days roughly, you can go to take your new NIE with your old NIE, passport, and the receipt of finger print, just like the process of the first collection of NIE.

When you are collecting your new DNI, how can we do in order to avoid police office. This document is called " Autorizacion de regreso", and I think it is called temporary residence permit proof. It is vaild for 3 months.

If you don’t have the NIE and your NIE has expired, there is a way in case you want to travel out of Schangen country. To apply for a return document. Opps, I donate a lot of money on Spanish government. And my advice of the application is the earlier you apply the better. The Spanish government usually does not work fast. There is an efficiency problem. But don't worry the " Autorizacion de regreso" only took me 3 days to get the document, quite efficient this time.

1. EX-13

2. Passport, and its copy, the whole passport copy!!!

3. Your result from the visa extension

4. Flight ticket : it depends. For me, the officer did not see my flight tickets.

5. Money, charged by the foreign office. (10 EUR roughly)

For that prepared, you need to make a appointment again. And the link is the same as the one for police office:

 https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/icpplus/index

But this time you have to select the foreign office and choose the " Application for authorization"
